I learned the basics of candlemaking through craft books, researching the internet and using candle starter kits. I wanted to create candles that were unusual and that hadn't been seen before so I raided the family toolbox and found a packet of carving tools, after hours of experimenting I discovered a few techniques which are still used today in my work.

As time has passed I have built up my collection of moulds and colours available. I use Polycarbonate Moulds, Aluminium Moulds and 2 piece plastic moulds, these are imported from USA and Germany.

Some finishing techniques take a considerable time longer to create than others this is reflected in the prices. All of my candles are decorative yet functional, they are made with the intention that they will be burned therefor different wick sizes are used to correspond with the diametre of the candle for maximised burning.

Designer candles - Sasolwax, Paraffin wax (pillar blend)
Sasolwax is free from harmful substances. All highly refined products are constantly monitored by a stringent quality control and are non-toxic. Their environmental properties are characterised by good biodegradability and non-cumulative effects. Paraffin waxes are complex mixtures of many substances. They mainly consist of saturated hydrocarbons. These crude oil derivatives are purified and refined by modern, environmentally friendly technology (e.g high pressure hydrogenation).

Sasolwax has designed special wax and fat blends for use in glass containers. Their grades have low contraction and therefor give a good optical appearance and a smooth surface. The low melting point ensures that the wax burns down completely.
